I am a Dutch woman, and got in touch with Mr.Robinson by corresponding with him. I heard his story and i was shocked by it, although I was aware of the difference between Europe and the US, regarding the justice system. My reaction to the gross inequities of the US criminal justice system was similar to that of many Americans: "this couldn't he happening here!"
It is only through the misfortune of having direct contact with the system that people perceive the disconnect between the rhetoric and the reality. The constitution is not followed,one is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but in todays society that is not how justice is served. You are guilty immediately upon being arrested, you're guilty unless you can prove otherwise. Well....Mr.Robinson and his family did just that.
And he was still send to prison, for 60 years. The courts decision has taken away THE one positive role model in his children's lives , and damaged their childhood.
Mr.Robinson deserves his day in court !
